S&D Products

The project is a new headquarters and production facility for S&D Products. The building houses more than 100,000 square feet of manufacturing space and nearly 10,000 square feet of two-story office space. The manufacturing area features four interior loading docks, a tool room, locker room facilities, monorail and jib cranes, equipment vibration and isolation pads, and high output fluorescent lighting. A planned future expansion to the warehouse space will bring the total building area to 196,000 square feet.

Requirements of the office space program included two major components. The executive area of 2,300 square feet contains the executive office, a spacious lounge with an entertainment and bar area, vehicle storage, and support areas. The 6,000 square-foot general office area includes numerous private offices, a general workstation area, conference rooms, and storage rooms. A large entry atrium is one of the major architectural design features and helps to identify the main facility entry from the exterior.

A major focus for architectural design team was the exterior appearance of this large facility. Through advanced computer renderings, the team was able to visually educate the client on how different elements and materials could contribute to reduce the overall scale of the building, permit clear visibility of the main entry, allow natural light into the offices and manufacturing spaces, and improve the overall aesthetic appearance.
